My children (now grown-up) sometimes ask me for a recipe, something they remember from their childhood.
Sometimes these are my own recipes. However, more often than not, they are ones handed down to me or very occasionally given to me by a friend.
My mother did not cook if she could possibly avoid it.
She came from a class and an age where - "one had a cook".
So when I was young, there was a cook (and a Nanny)
As I grew older the cook went and was replaced by Nanny.
It was Nanny who taught me to cook and patiently talked me through her recipes whilst I tried to do them and slowly wrote them down.
So - most of my recipes come from Nanny.
Therefore - this site is dedicated to Nanny.
Without her, I would have gone out into the world unable to boil an egg
Site still under construction
